Nickname: Deezy
9-year-old, 60-pound Labrador mix

House-Trained: Deezy does great on a schedule and will usually give a verbal cue when he needs to go out.

Crate-Trained: Does well – no blankets or towels in crate with him.

Other Dogs: Does well with slow introductions and some time to get to know one another. Once he knows the other dog, he is very playful and would do well with a dog with a similar playstyle. Deezy is leash reactive, meaning he is vocal when he sees other dogs and pulls on his leash.

Kids and Cats: We were told he did well with kids and cats prior to coming to Pet Haven. Would need slow introduction.

Health: Deezy's allergies are looking much better and we should know more as time goes on. He would also benefit from a teeth cleaning. He is currently on GI prescribed food but may need to switch depending on allergy findings. He is also currently being treated for Lyme’s disease.

Despite his old dog lumps and bumps (which are nothing to be worried about per his vets) Deezy is an incredibly sweet and loving dog. Vet techs and vets alike mentioned what a good dog he is and how polite and sweet he is! He is a great mix of snuggle bug and energy. He loves getting in a few walks every day, playing with rope toys, taking part in what his family is doing, and playing with his foster sister!

Patience with Deezy is key. That is how he builds his trust. Sweet Deezy came from a home that did not have time or resources for him have kids arrived and he found himself in his kennel more than any dog should have. He was rescued by a family member who intended to keep him forever until unfortunately, they found out they were severely allergic to him. He is now searching for his forever home that will be full of love, patience, routine and stability.

Deezy is a bit of a barker and a vocal dog with whines and grumbles (in the MOST endearing way), and so apartment / shared-wall living is not an option for him. And while he would love a fenced yard for his golden years, it is not required. Deezy has benefitted greatly from slip leash training and this should be continued in his forever home. He is a wonderful, wonderful dog and truly an amazing companion. He deserves a loving home that will take care of him!


His adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, & Bordetella), HW and flea/tick preventative, and microchip implant and registration.

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best guess.

Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.

Due to post-adoption services provided, it is Pet Haven's policy to only place dogs into homes within a 75-mile radius of the Minneapolis, MN city center.
