Meet Diego

Meet Diego!

46 weeks old/11.5 months (2.4.16)

Hi, My name is Diego and I am just as charming as my name suggests! I am about 11.5 months old. I am definitely an extrovert when it comes to making new friends. I love new doggy friends and new adult human friends and would love to have a forever family with kids because I love to play! I have never met a cat but I’ll bet I would love them, too… unless they scared me away! I’ve been working on my doggie manners..like sit and stay and I’m usually a pretty polite guy. I have also learned to wait for the ‘ok’ before I dig into my breakfast or come out of my kennel. I’m really good at doing my ‘doggy business’ outside and haven’t had an accident since I was a tiny little pup. And when I hear the treat jar open- I come running! I love treats! I also love snuggling on the couch with my foster mom, sleeping late in the morning and playing tug and fetch (and I’m getting really good at it!). To be perfectly honest, I do have an issue I should tell you about… I love chewing! It’s been a long time since I got in trouble by chewing my foster mom’s flip-flops but I think she makes sure I have lots of doggy things to chew on that don’t get me in trouble. I’m a medium energy doggie who needs some play and exercise everyday but then loves to snuggle up for a nap. My foster mom says I’m not chewing on anything when I’m napping so I guess that’s a good thing! I guess I’m a pretty good boy… I don’t get in trouble very much… maybe it helps that I’m really cute and charming!
Crate trained as well.

Medical Note-
Diego is one of the "Puppy Strangles" brothers which is why he has a bare spot on his nose. That will likely be there his whole life. It does not effect him in any way. Diego also may have Stifle OCD in his knee. The only way to know for sure is to do an exploratory surgery but not until he is full grown. In the mean time there is a large chance we can fix the problem with Cosequin glucose which he has been on daily since August 2015. If the problem is not fixed by the time he is full grown, the owner and rescue would work together on the best next step. However, from the time we have put him on it, he has made huge strides so we do feel like he will be fine in the future.
