Meet Dex – a nearly 2-year-old neutered male American Staffordshire Terrier with a heart as big as his smile! Weighing in at 45 pounds, Dex is the perfect medium-sized companion who’s ready to bring joy, loyalty, and a whole lot of love to his forever home.

Dex is currently being fostered in HOUSTON, Texas, and is available to transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up.

This affectionate, goofy guy is a true cuddle champion. If you’re looking for a dog who will happily melt into your lap at the end of the day (or any time, really), Dex is your guy. He absolutely thrives on love, attention, and being close to his people. Whether it’s curling up for a movie night or hanging out on the couch, he just wants to be near you.

Dex is great with kids and gets along well with other dogs, making him an ideal fit for a family looking for a well-rounded, gentle pup. His easygoing nature and playful energy mean he can keep up with family fun while still being respectful of boundaries and calm during downtime.

He’s both house-trained and crate-trained, and while he’s a champ at holding it overnight, he does best with regular potty breaks during the day to stay comfortable. In the home, Dex is respectful, clean, and well-mannered—truly a low-maintenance sweetheart.

When meeting new people, Dex can be a little cautious at first, but give him just a little time and he warms up quickly, showing off his sweet and silly personality. Once he feels safe, he’s all tail wags and gentle kisses. His foster family says he’s made incredible progress building confidence and loves being part of the action.

Dex is eager to please and highly trainable. He’s already mastered “sit” and is always ready to learn more—especially if treats or praise are involved. He’s a smart boy who thrives with gentle guidance and structure. He also has no food aggression and is happy to share space and snacks with both people and pups alike.

This boy enjoys the simple things in life—walks around the neighborhood, play sessions in the yard, and soft beds to snooze in after a little fun. While he’s not a high-energy dog, he does love regular activity and will happily join you on your adventures, big or small.
