Meet Dex

**********ADOPTION PENDING************

Hi there! My name is Dex and I am a super-special canine eager to find my forever home. Why am I special? Let me explain.

I’m a 7-year-old male Aussie/Lab mix weighing in at 75 pounds. I was picked up as a stray and spent just a few days at animal control before the good people from Second City rescued me. They saw how special I am and I am hoping you will see, too.

I am housebroken and don’t mind spending your work day without a potty break. I don’t require a crate as I am very well behaved at home. I take my treats extremely gently from your hands, especially cheese! Are you starting to get the picture here?

You need more proof of how special I am? I don’t chew on things I shouldn’t, I don’t jump on the furniture, and I walk well on leash. I walk what they call “loose leash” which means I don't pull, unless I see another dog that sparks my interest. I am a sniffer on my walks and that will give you a chance to stop and smell the roses with me.

I spend most of my days following my human from room to room and napping close to them. At nights, I sleep in my dog bed on the floor next to the human bed. Squeaky toys are intriguing to me, however I’m still getting the fetch part down. That’s what humans are for right? Ah hah! I see a light going on over your head. The picture is developing!

Slow introductions with new people are the best kind of introductions, especially when my favorite treats are involved. Feed me some delicious hot dogs and we will be best friends in no time. Once I know I can trust you I will love you hard, but it might take me a little time to warm up to new settings. Head scratches help though! I would prefer my forever home have a low key lifestyle where I get to hang out with my favorite humans, uninterrupted by children or strangers going in and out.

Now, I know you have already picked up on my biggest positive: I’m a low key dude, looking to be somebody's new best friend! What we have ahead is long, peaceful days of enjoying each other's company and watching the world spin by. If you’re looking for a low energy buddy who is always happy to greet you, look no further.

Interested in adopting this dog? Visit our website (http://www.SecondCityCanineRescue.org) to fill out an application and to find out where this dog may be shown this weekend.

We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog’s individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog. Come to the show to find out if this dog is the right fit for you — it's helpful to bring all family members and current dogs.

Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don’t know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess.

Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area. Questions? Email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org. Hope to see you become part of the SCCR family!
