Hi, my name is Denzel. I'm a very cute, sweet, and friendly guy with lots of energy, who is estimated to be 2 years old and weigh about 50 pounds. I was adopted and returned after 3 weeks, because I was to active and bouncy for my new owners. Then, I was adopted again and returned after a few days, because I jumped the fence and chased chickens. Therefore, I will need a well-secured yard or kennel that will confine me when left alone. I have gotten along with some dogs in playgroups here at the shelter, but sometimes I can overwhelm others with my puppy-like exuberance, high energy, and vocalization. Therefore, I should meet any other dogs in the home prior to adoption to make sure I'm a good fit. Most of all, I enjoy spending time with people, who will give me lots of attention and the regular exercise I need. Given my energy level, I will do best in a home without chickens nearby and with an active family that can handle my playfulness and include me in their adventures. Because I am still a puppy at heart, I will benefit from consistent training to build my obedience skills and learn how to walk nicely on a leash. Plus, it would be a great way for me to bond with my new owners. I had a bite incident at the shelter a few weeks ago, which was likely caused by shelter stress, but I have not shown any bite risk behaviors in my current foster home. My adoption fee is $150, plus $25 for an annual dog license, if you live in Jackson County. I'm in foster care so please contact my foster parent Becky at 301-852-0658 to arrange a meeting.
