Meet Denver

Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/.

Please note that because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about an hour of Wilmington, DE in order for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in person home visit.

Denver is a wonderful Jack Russel Terrier mix! At 10 years or so, and 18 pounds, he is still a spunky, fun loving little fellow! He loves all other dogs, cats, and humans, and would most likely even do well with pocket pets.

He is housetrained if kept on a fairly frequent and consistent potty schedule. He likes a nice walk and sniff around, and is adorably wiggly when greeting you upon awakening or your return home. He has a great and non-picky appetite, and loves a treat after being a good boy! He is all recovered from a neuter, dental with only a few extractions, and double "cherry eye" repair. He is currently not on any medication, but an adopter should keep an eye on a slight tendency toward itchy skin.

He came to a local shelter recently as a stray, and his foster family wonders how anyone could lose (abandon?) such a precious little nugget. He would make a terrific companion for any single person or family, as he is happy both next to you on the couch or trotting beside you on a nice day! He does not seem to have any anxiety, or need a crate, when he is left alone. Little barking has been noted, usually only as he awaits that all-important mealtime. He happily would sleep either in a dog bed, or your own! Or the cat's lounger!

Denver's foster family sees him as the perfect little pup. I think you might, too! Won't you make his holiday season bright?
