Delia 50751's Story

Delia’s journey is nothing short of remarkable. When this beautiful girl first arrived at OK Humane, she had spent her entire puppyhood surviving on her own—scavenging for food, coming out only at night, and sprinting away from every helping hand. She was scared, unsure, and had very little reason to trust people.
But with time, patience, and the comfort of a foster home, Delia is blossoming.
She’s still a shy and sensitive soul, but her sweet personality is beginning to shine through. She adores the other dogs in her foster home, can be won over with tasty treats, and has even learned that belly rubs and the occasional game of fetch can be pretty wonderful. Every day, she surprises her foster family with new little victories.
She’s now ready—cautiously—to start meeting the people who might become her people. Here’s what her future family should know:

She needs a fenced yard. Delia is still very afraid of the leash. Her foster family practices putting it on and off several times a day, and she wears it around the house, but she’s not quite ready for walks yet.

She’s making progress with potty training. She does great when she has easy access to the outdoors and reliably uses a potty pad by the door at night. She’s just a little too shy to ask yet.

No young children, please. Fast movement and being chased terrify her, so a calm, predictable home will help her feel safe.

Crates aren’t her thing (yet). She prefers sleeping in her cozy, puppy-proofed room instead of a crate.

She’s learning house manners. She’s made huge strides in understanding what is and isn’t a toy—but like any puppy, she needs a puppy-proofed home and patient guidance.

She LOVES other dogs. She has excellent dog social skills and thrives with a confident canine friend who can help her continue learning how to be a happy, secure family dog.

Delia is searching for a loving adopter who sees not just where she is now, but how far she’s come—and how far she can go with the right person by her side. She may need extra time, patience, and understanding, but when that tiny nubby tail starts to wag just for you, you’ll know: she’s worth every second.
