Adopt-a-BullBreed: Pit Bull Terrier Mix Gender: Male Estimated Date of Birth: April 7, 2018 Size: 50 lbs Location: Dallas, GA
Dash was dumped at the entrance of Animal Control in Fulton County as just a little pup with deformed back legs. Lucky for Dash, AKA Doobie, one of our long-time fosters stepped up and we were able to make him part of the FTTF family on July 6, 2018.
Dash came into the rescue when he was a 3 month pup with a plethora of medical concerns. He had surgery on both of his rear legs in August 2018 and both of his front legs in April 2019. In order to help his severe leg deformities, surgery on all 4 limbs was medically necessary to help correct them. His mobility and bending will remain diminished and he is unable to use stairs. He may also have some hip issues contributing to his mobility issues. Despite these issues, he is a happy, sweet boy! Doobs loves hanging out and annoying his doggie foster-siblings and would likely do well in a home with another dog that is understanding of his puppy antics. He is very interested in chasing the cats in his foster home, but could probably coexist with a dog savvy cat as long as the cat can get up and away. As if this Doobs has not had enough medical issues, he also has a heart murmur and skin allergies. His heart murmur is being monitored by a specialist. His skin allergies are environmental so he requires frequent baths, wipe downs and medications to keep it under control. Due to his extensive orthopedic surgeries, he gets tired quickly from activity so a short walk or romp in the yard is usually enough for him. It would be ideal for him to have a 1 level home with limited or no stairs and a level yard. He will need a family that understands he will require some special, ongoing care. He will always have activity limitations and restrictions would be best for him. We do not recommend that he go to a home with young children (under 10 years of age) since he is limited in his activity as he will likely develop arthritis as he ages.
Doobs has no idea that he's any different. He still tries his hardest to run and play like the other dogs. He still has all of the silly, normal puppy antics like chasing cats, pestering the other dogs, and playing with his toys. He is housebroken and crate-trained - He is just a bit special and requires extra care. He would make a great addition to a family and his personality and charisma will win you over quickly!
Our adoption fee is $250. All dogs are current on vaccinations, spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, on heartworm prevention, and are fed top of the line grain-free food.www.savingpitbulls.org
