You must be 25 yrs of age or older to adopt through us. We are in the Rochester NY area and adopt dogs out to area residents.

Required: Physically fenced in yard and live in the Rochester NY area.

Darla is a shih tzu who is estimated at 8 years old, and is 12 pounds. She joined us from a NY puppy mill where she spent her entire life birthing litters of puppies. Now she has a shot at her own new life and she is so excited to get going. Despite her start to life, Darla is very friendly and always is wagging her tail. She has some hesitations on being picked up or petted at first and does prefer a females, but she has really come around to the male in her Foster home. Darla is making strides with potty training and loves being outside. She has never been on a leash previously and it causes her stress so we are looking for a home that has a fully fenced yard for her to explore safely (must be a physical fence, not invisible). Darla has 2 small dogs in her Foster home that she does great with, but she loves human attention and would be a good fit in a home with or without a doggy companion. Darlas favorite activities are sleeping on the couch with her foster family, and playing with soft toys. She absolutely loves to take new ones out and try them out, she will even take them to bed with her. Darla has been brought up to date on her vet care, including a badly needed dental, and is ready to see what the future holds. All our dogs have been spayed/neutered; treated for worms; heartworm tested (if age appropriate -7 mths or older); treated for fleas/ticks; microchip; and examined by veterinarian and given age appropriate vaccinations. We take every effort to ensure the health of the animal and you will receive a copy of all vet work performed.
