Meet Dallas
Dallas is male miniature dachshund, he will be 5 years old in June. Dallas is the sweetest boy who’s favorite thing in all the world is to just hang w/ his people. He warms up quickly to anyone who will give him attention including kiddos. He enjoys other small to medium sized dogs. He loves running around in his wheelchair, going for long walks in his doggie stroller & binge watching Netflix in front of the fireplace. Dallas loves the outdoors except when it’s raining, typical Dachshund.
Dallas is down in the hind end (paralyzed) at the moment and although we are all hoping that with therapy he will be able to walk again there are no guarantees. Either way Dallas is good, he has no idea that he is currently disabled especially now that his pain is managed. Dallas has IVDD, or Intervertebral Disc Disease, a spinal disorder that follows from the herniating of an intervertebral disc inside an afflicted dog.
Dallas does struggle a bit with bigger dogs and wants to chase after cats even on 2 legs! He does resource guard toys w/ squeakers, so we avoid them when he’s hanging w/ other dogs.
He currently wears a diaper but does have some bladder control & more often than not goes potty outside. He does take some extra work but his foster Mom thinks he’s totally worth it. He will need a home that understands the level of care and financial burden that comes along w/ owning an IVDD dog. If you are interested in adopting Dallas we’d love to answer any questions you may have regarding his care.
