Dale's Story
**Meet Dale!** Dale is a 4-year-old wolf hybrid, unmistakably carrying wolf DNA, though the exact amount is unknown as no DNA test has been performed.
Dale is a sweetheart. He is just a puppy at heart. He knows no difference within himself. He is just another dog. He loves to be loved. He is social and playful and enjoys people, kids, and dog company. He is a soft-hearted goofball. Gentle and friendly to all souls.

Dale was discovered abandoned at a veterinary clinic, tied to a post overnight. Since wolf hybrids are illegal in the county, the local animal shelter was contacted, and an urgent rescue plea ensued. During my evaluation, I took him out of the stressful shelter environment, and although he was initially anxious and unsure, he quickly began to appreciate the time away. Gaining his trust was effortless—Dale is incredibly social and friendly!

Dale gets along famously with dogs of all sizes and ages, making a home with another playful pup ideal for him. Being submissive, he thrives alongside a confident, balanced companion. He has completed basic obedience training, and his potential is boundless, but continued training is essential to his development. Dale is intelligent and eager to please, albeit a touch stubborn at times, with that youthful, playful spirit still intact. He rides excellently in the car and interacts well with both people and other dogs. While curious about cats, he tries to play without bothering them, showcasing his intelligence! He has been socialised around rabbits, farm birds, turtles, goats, and larger farm animals—all without incident. Dale can easily jump an 8-foot fence but respects a 3-foot fence if a playful dog is nearby. A secure fence is required; open to discussion.

As a wolf-dog, it's crucial to recognise that many areas have regulations regarding their ownership. Potential adopters must check local laws and ordinances and understand the necessary care required. We also require proof of continued training for compliance with ownership and adoption standards.

Adopting any pet is a significant commitment, especially a wolf hybrid. I am looking for an experienced adopter—preferably someone who is already a responsible pet owner and has thoroughly researched what owning a hybrid entails. Do your homework. Be devoted and committed to your research. I will ask informed questions and expect thoughtful answers.

Understand the breed, set expectations, know your local regulations, and consult with a veterinarian (as not all are comfortable with hybrids), along with an experienced trainer who uses positive reinforcement. Have a training plan ready from day one.

While Dale is undeniably attractive and has a cool appeal, remember that owning him requires more than just admiration for his looks. Commitment, time, financial resources, and strong dedication are essential to ensure he lives a safe, happy, and balanced life.

I am not looking for a perfect home; I am searching for a dedicated, responsible, loving, and preferably experienced forever home for Dale. Please make sure you’re prepared before applying—your due diligence is essential.

Dale is house and crate-trained, walks well on a leash, and has an excellent recall with his favorite human.

Visit our adoption website AdoptAHRescue.org

•Friendly with- Children - Cats - Rabbits - Dogs - Small-breed dogs - Senior pets.

**All Adoptions Include:**
- Spay/Neuter procedure
- Rabies vaccination (offered with 1 or 3-year options)
- Comprehensive core vaccinations, including Leptospirosis, Coronavirus & Lyme (available for 1 or 3 years)
- Negative heartworm test (if of age)
- Monthly prevention for heartworm, fleas, and ticks
- Negative Lyme disease test
- Deworming and negative fecal test
- Completion of all necessary testing within the last 6-12 months
- All age-appropriate medical needs addressed (blood work, dental check-ups, testing, and medications)
- Lifetime microchip registration with free unlimited updates
- A recommendation to feed a high-quality good protein diet
•Veterinary records included
•Brand-new Collar, Leash, Harness.

**Adoption Processing:**
- The review of adoption applications, meet and greet, and citation can take up to three weeks.

?? We are a foster-based program with access to a private location we call the Sanctuary. All dogs start there, and once ready, they are placed into foster homes.

?? We have basic standards for adoption to ensure the safety of everyone involved. This includes completing an adoption application. Every adult in your home will undergo a basic background check. We need to know who we are interacting with and welcoming into our space/foster homes. A picture ID and proof of address are required to be submitted when applying.

?? All potential adopters (adults and children in the home) must participate in at least one meet and greet before adoption, along with a home check, which can occur on the same day as the adoption. We are open to additional meet and greets upon request.

?? Be prepared to travel; our foster homes are spread throughout the state. I will make an effort to meet halfway if possible, but if you’re not willing to travel for meet and greets, then we are not the right rescue for you.

?? Please note that there is an operation and processing fee in addition to the adoption fee due when scheduling meet and greets. This fee covers background checks and travel costs. Refunds will only be issued if the cancellation occurs within 72 hours.

?? If you are willing to meet multiple dogs that fit your home and lifestyle, then we are the right rescue for you! This process helps us ensure a proper match between you and a new pet.

?? Remember, your current pet(s) have the final say. Your newly adopted dog must be compatible with all existing pets.

?? If you have children and other pets at home, their safety is our top priority. We strive for success and safety. This means making decisions in the best interest of everyone involved: the home, family, current pets, and our dog.

?? Adoption fees are not negotiable. Adoption fees are listed on each individual pet profile. When filing out an adoption application form, it requests that you list the dog you are interested in and its adoption fee. This eliminates misunderstanding.
Adoption fees help cover 1/4 of the cost of running the rescue.

**For Former AHRS Adopters:**
- A donation of your choice is appreciated, but no formal adoption fee is required; your generosity is valued.

Training is an ongoing journey that requires daily attention; new challenges and opportunities for learning arise routinely and should be embraced. Continued training is vital to setting them up for lifelong success.

For more details about the adoption process or to submit an application, please visit our website at AdoptAHRescue.org or email us at rescueah@yahoo.com.

Tax-deductible minimum donation adoption fee $500
For the right home, everything is negotiable.
