Meet Daisy Mae

Howdy, I’m Daisy Mae! I am a super sweet and smart pup who makes an excellent guard dog. I am eager to learn things and want to please (and protect!) my fur-ever family. If you are in search for a loving companion or a professional squirrel chaser, I am paws-itively perfect for you!

I am about 2 years old and weigh 55 pounds. My wonderful foster mom adopted me after Pup Squad rescued me from a Galveston shelter. My four-month old puppies and I had been turned in and, guess what? I was pregnant again. My second delivery was challenging because the father was a very big dog, but my pups were welcomed into the world and soon adopted into awesome fur-ever families. Once I get to know them, I get along with men, women, and kids (over the age of 14). I do well with other dogs but cats would likely not like me (I have a habit of chasing small animals such as squirrels). Chew sticks and belly rubs are my favorite things in the entire world.
I did have a bite incidence: The use was being power sprayed and the water was hitting the glass getting all of the dogs frantic. Once we thought the workers were gone I went outside but Daisy slipped out before I could close the door. The man who had been spraying the water against the window was still in our yard and she bit his calf. It scraped the skin (not a deep puncture wound) but did draw blood. It was clearly a provoked incidence but it was also my fault for letting her slip through the door.

My foster mom has been teaching me manners. I am learning to be polite and not to jump on people; I know sit, down, stay and come. I will need continued reinforcement and consistency so that I can keep these skills. My foster mom is happy to talk to you about it! I am leash trained, potty trained, and sleep through the night. I prefer to sleep on your bed but I can also sleep on the floor or a crate. I do very well in a crate if not left there too long. Tap on the top of the crate give me a treat and I will go right in! If I am with someone I know well, I do okay in the car! I love being brushed and nail caps help prevent me from scratching. Pretty please adopt me if you are looking for a loyal dog and someone who will protect you from evil squirrels, possums and concerning noises outside your door!

Our adoption fee is a $250.00 donation to Pup Squad Animal Rescue. Our adopted dogs are all spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped.
