Name: Daidy
Breed: Saint Bernard / Mastiff mix
Age: 11 months
Gender: Female
Dog: Large dogs yes, small dogs no.
Cats: No
Kids: Age 12+
Special Needs: Someone willing to attend obedience classes with her is required.
Meet Miss Daisy, a loveable giant looking for a family to call her very own. Daisy is a bouncy, happy girl who spends a lot of her day full of beans and looking for things to do. She will need a home who is going to keep her active - long walks every day, some time romping around in the yard will be right up her ally. The old saying, " a tired dog is a well-behaved dog" could have Daisy's photo right there beside it! If you are a homebody, or don't enjoy outside activities, Daisy isn't the dog for you. If, however, you like long walks, hanging out at the park, camping, hiking, etc., Daisy will be your best pal!
Daisy likes to be brushed and is fine with having her paws and nails touched, which is nice for home grooming! She is well housetrained and will let you know when she needs outside. While she is crate trained, and she will go in and out of her crate when told, she doesn't love being there and may grumble and whine for a bit at first. She is well-behaved at night and a doggie bed on the floor of your room will make her a very happy girl!
Someone willing to attend puppy classes with Daisy is required. She is in need of some school! She can be a stubborn girl, and a puppy who weighs over 100 lbs with a mind of her own is just trouble waiting to happen. Granted, she'll be smiling and happy while getting into things, but her humans may find her antics less amusing than she does. She is NOT out of control or a "bad dog", she is just very large and very bouncy and needs to get a little more solid in her "sit" and "down" and "don't eat that" commands for everyone's peace of mind. Daisy loooooves food and using food as a reward for her makes training so much easier!
Daisy can guard treats and food from other dogs. Someone who understansds guarding behaviour will be needed. Feeding her away from the other dogs and ensuring no bowls are left down on the floor after they are empty helps keep guarding a non-issue.
Someone with breed experience and/or giant breed experience would help with understanding any of Daisy's quirks (both good and bad)!
