Meet Daiquiri

Daiquiri's Story
-Written by Daiquiri, a 6-week-old, 5lb female Aussie mix.
---------------------------------------------

I remember everything. I remember being picked up and put in a box. I remember having my siblings being tossed on top of me. I remember trying to climb out of the box. I remember the top being closed right in my face. I remember being able to push it open with my nose until the tape came over it. Then, I couldn't do anything. I was shut in darkness along with my 9 siblings. I remember the feeling so light when the box was carried. I remember a car door being opened and us being set in it. I remember the feel of the car under us and the bumpy road. I remember us crying our hearts out. We all wanted out. I remember the car finally stopping and the box being lifted again. I remember when our owner set us down, and I remember hearing another car door and then the car driving off. I remember how dark it was. I remember how hungry we were. I remember how scared and hopeless I felt. I remember as time went by and we got hungrier we started nursing on any extension we could find. I remember my toes and tail starting to hurt like crazy. But nothing hurt as much as the hunger. I was slowly starving to death.

I remember when I finally heard voices again. I remember them talking over the box. I remember how bright it was when they opened that box. I remember them just about crying when they found 10 little puppies covered in pee and furless patches. I remember them loading us up into their car and taking us to the animal shelter. I remember how upset everyone was when we got there. I remember the shelter cleaning us up and photographing us. They were trying to find a rescue for us before we were potentially exposed to some very deadly diseases in the shelter. I remember how happy they were when this rescue stepped up for us.

I remember leaving the shelter. I remember the car rides. I remember meeting my foster mom. I remember being so worn out and crashing. I remember devouring the tray of food she had set out for us. I remember how broken I felt when I found out I may lose some of my toes or tail if my skin died. My tissue had been so damaged from my siblings trying to nurse that the vet was concerned it may start to die in which case we would have needed to amputate it. I remember my foster mom putting meds on my patches every day.

I remember everything. That doesn't mean that I am going to let my past define me. No. I am a brave girl. I am a playful girl. I am a survivor. I plan on living. I love to play. I love to cuddle with my foster parents. I love to explore. I love to eat. I love to see that the skin has turned pink again on my toes and that it looks like my fur is starting to grow back. I am unsure if the fur on my tail will grow back yet, but at least it doesn't look like I will have to lose it. So, that is something. Life is too short for me to live in the past.

I know exactly what I deserve. I know exactly what I want. I want a playful family. I want someone who is home a lot to play with me and love on me. I want someone who has another playful dog for me to play with and learn from. I want a family that is going to love me forever. I want someone who is never going to let me go. I want a family that is ready for everything that comes with having a puppy. A family who is ready to work with me on potty training and puppy proof their house. I want a family that will include me in their life. That will take me on adventures. Introduce me to new things. I want a family that is going to stand by my side.

Most of all though, I want to be someones forever. I don't want to be anyones until girl. Are you the one who is going to give me the world? Are you the one that I am going to give my everything to? If so, please apply to adopt me at
https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app

Once this app comes in, it will be sent on to my foster family. This is to help ensure that not only am I a good fit for you but that you are also a good fit for me! ?

I am currently residing in Sand Springs, OK. I do ask that my new family pick me up, none of that outside transport stuff. If I am going to move in with you, I expect to start our journey in the car together driving home TOGETHER. ?

Now I know that you may have fallen in love with me, but I am not quite ready to go home yet. I won't be ready to go home with you until around the end of August. I hope that you will still apply to adopt me though, that way after my final vetting with this rescue I will already have a family waiting! ?

My adoption fee is $300.
That will include two sets of puppy shots and wormings. I will also have had a bordetella. I will be micro-chipped, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.

EPILOGUE
-Below is an excerpt from Daiquiri's foster family.

"Daiquiri is a happy puppy who likes to explore. She is a leader. Loves toys, squeaky ones and balls. She is very playful and often plays hard with her sister, Lemon Drop. Her favorite place to sleep is by the air vent. She will climb over others to get to it. Daiquiri is not a fan of baths. Her favorite times are meals, playing, and then naps."
