Meet Dachshund/Chihuahua mixes

Get out your tissues because this story is sad. This family was at a shelter in a small town. It is a kill shelter but they usually do everything they can to not have to euthanize. I randomly messaged them the day before Christmas to see if they were euthanizing any dogs as many small shelters do before the holidays because the staff wants the days off. They replied they weren't euthanizing for space but that they were going to euthanize this family because they were fearful and some of them were trying to nip. Shelters are a scary place for dogs but small dogs are especially terrified in the shelter environment so unfortunately a lot of them get labeled as aggressive when really they are just scared. Sadly they had already euthanized the 3 boys. I dropped everything and rushed to get the momma and her 3 girls. I am heart broken that I was too late to save the boys because these babies are sooooo sweet and not aggressive at all. They love to be petted and are great with other dogs and with cats. The momma is a young adult so about 3 years old and her babies are about 9 months old.

They currently still in Oklahoma where they were rescued but they can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. They have to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take them in or they will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. They do NOT have to be adopted together, they are just posted together.

Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays.
