Cypress is approx 3 years old and weighs about 60 lbs. Cypress was surrendered by her breeder after he had been in trouble with the USDA multiple times for not providing adequate care to the dogs. This Iowa breeder had over 700 dogs on his property and many had medical needs that went untreated. Cypress came into rescue with a wounded paw. During her spay the vet was able to get the wound clean and take a good look. Cypress has a hole that goes all the way through her foot. She has been on antibiotics and the paw is healing. However, it will take some time to close. While she is healing the foot should be cleaned after going outside or soaked once a day to ensure infection does not get in again.

Cypress is still learning to trust people and fast movement towards her causes her to bolt. She is an insecure dog that does better with women than men. She is terrified of going outside on her own and will not walk on a leash. She loves the company of other dogs and will play with them. It is then where you can see her just be a dog and not so scared of everything. We recently started her on anxiety meds, but it is too soon to know if the meds will work. Her family may need to accept she will be scared for a long time and be committed to taking things very slow.

Mill dog experience is a must as she is not just a typical scared dog. Cypress has been abused in ways we can't even imagine and it has left some big scars. She will need a confident and playful dog in her new home.

Again, she does not know how to walk on a leash and is considered a flight risk. She will require a secure physical fenced yard.

Cypress has endured more pain, both emotionally and physically, than any dog should have to in her short life. She is going to make a sweet companion with time, love and patience.

Cypress' adoption fee is $365. She is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly flea and heartworm prevention.

WE DO ADOPT OUT OF THE AREA, HOWEVER, WE DO NOT SHIP NOR ARRANGE TRANSPORTS. YOU WILL HAVE TO COME TO DECATUR, IL TO MEET THE DOG.
