Custer German Shepherd Dog Mix Manhattan, KS

Custer is a 45lbs, 2-year-old German Shephard mix that must have had some horrible experiences with people. When he first came to us, he spent most of the time hiding in his kennel and it took a lot of patience and love for him to trust his foster family. He now loves to hang out on the couch, get his belly rubbed and hand out kisses. Unfortunately, he is still terrified of any new people coming to visit and immediately goes into hiding. He gets along well with his foster family’s cat and loves to play and run around the yard with his foster sister and in true Shepard form, hasn’t met a toy he doesn’t like. Custer will need a calm, patient home that can give him the time and space he needs to realize that he is safe and loved. A fenced in yard is a must and another dog or two would be ideal. He hasn’t shown any form of aggression towards children but again, due to his fearfulness, the less active of a home the better. He is heartworm negative, neutered and up-to-date on his vaccines and all preventatives. Please give Custer a chance, he is an amazing dog that deserves his forever home.
