German Shepherd
100% Cuddle Bug

Cupcake came to us from Aurora Animal Care & Control, where she arrived clearly having just raised a litter of puppies. Thankfully, an incredible foster stepped up, and this sweet mama is now soaking up the love and care she deserves in a foster home — and she’s finally ready to find a forever family of her own.

Her foster mom says letting her go will be incredibly hard — because Cupcake is such an amazing dog — but they know she deserves a home to call her own, and they want to continue saving others in need.

Cupcake is house trained, and while she will go into her crate, she may bark or whine a bit if people are nearby (she just wants to be part of the action!). She settles more quickly when things are quiet.

She’s got that ideal German Shepherd energy balance — active and alert, but also incredibly cuddly and affectionate. She enjoys spending time outside and will happily play with another dog in the yard, but she’s also content to nap at your feet or curl up next to you. If she’s the only dog in the home, she’s mellow and laid-back.

Cupcake is great with other dogs and has been incredibly gentle and respectful with kids. Her cat compatibility is unknown, but she’s not overly vocal — aside from some barking in her crate or the occasional alert when someone comes to the door. She loves her stuffed animals but isn’t especially toy-obsessed.

She’s extremely food motivated and very smart, currently working on commands like “sit” and “down,” as well as learning not to counter-surf. Leash manners are still a work in progress, as she tends to pull, but she’s eager to learn. Most of all, Cupcake is incredibly affectionate — the kind of dog who greets you with a full-body “hug” and wants nothing more than to be by your side.

Cupcake is a stage-five clinger in the best way — she wants to be with her people and form that deep Shepherd-style bond. She’ll likely have a little separation anxiety in a new home, so she’d do best with someone who can be home often or give her time to adjust.

Whether she’s greeting guests at your cookout or laying by your feet during a quiet evening in, Cupcake will be right by your side — loyal, loving, and ready for her forever.
