Cuco Chihuahua & Pug Mix Dallas, TX

Cuco is a very sweet and calm 7 year old chi mix who has come to Dallas from Laredo. He only weighs 9 pounds and is such an easy quiet affectionate little guy.
He has a rather sad story- when he was around 1 year old his original owners decided they did not want him and put him outside, and would chase him away when he would try to return home. Luckily a neighbor saw poor Cuco desperately trying to return to the only home he knew and getting rejected, so she put out a dog bed and food on her porch for him. For over five years Cuco wandered the nighborhood but would return to her house for food, shelter, and some human companionship. Thankfully we were able to get him to Dallas and into a foster home so that Cuco can finally find a forever family that will give him all the love he so desperately craves. He adjusted back to indoor pet life right away and most enjoys laying in his dog bed or burrowing under blankets. Cuco is very sweet and loves attention, constantly rolling over for belly rubs and wagging his little tail. He has done great with a consistent potty schedule but will sometimes have accidents if not let out on time. Even when he is scared or at the vet he is very sweet and has not shown any aggression despite his sad past. He is also a gentlemen for nail trims and bath time. He lives in a foster home with two large dogs and a cat (who is also bigger than him.) He is overall very neutral with other animals and just minds his own business although the does enjoy sharing a dog bed with others and following them around. We think he would most enjoy a smaller dog companion that is closer to his size or a calmer big dog. He previously was friends with many of the other small dogs in Laredo. Cuco would likely do fine with kids since he doesn't mind being picked up and usually just runs to his bed when the large dogs are running around and playing rough. However given how calm and somewhat timid he is, Cuco would most prefer a quieter home with older children.
Cuco can be a bit of an escape artist if a fence is not secure, so he will need to be closely monitored when outside and requires a fence without any small holes or gaps.
