CUBBY Bichon Frise Northport, NY

CUBBY is the absolute sweetest blind dog ever! Literally, all 13 pounds of him is so ridiculously sweet. Even though Cubby has very limited sight from one eye, he's not a senior. Cubby was born on June 19, 2012 from a breeder, making him just 5 years old. (AKC papers included upon adoption).

What Cubby lacks in sight he makes up for in personality. He is so, so chill. Cubby's happy to sleep the day away and be around his people. He adores meal time, and does a little dance around the kitchen in anticipation of his bowl going down. He loves to cuddle and enjoys sleeping on the bed with his foster parents and one of the resident dogs in their home.

Cubby is not overly social with other dogs. He is not scared of them, but he doesn't seek them out. This might be a defense mechanism for his limited sight or it just might be his personality. We are open to placing Cubby in a home with or without dogs.

While Cubby is sharing his home with two small children, and adores them, we prefer not to place him in a home with young kids. After all, Cubby came into our rescue when his foster family had a baby and decided they could no longer care for him. We want the rest of Cubby's life from here on out to be about him. He deserves it! Kids over the age of 10 are ok.

Cubby is trained to go to the bathroom on wee wee pads and will also relieve himself outside. We'd love a backyard with a fence for Cubby - not because he's an active dog - he's not - but as he won't go for long walks like most dogs, we'd like him to be able to stimulate his gorgeous brain with all the wonderful scents that come with the outdoors. Cubby knows when his people are around. Besides using smell, he listens for their voice and then heads in pursuit of it, stopping along the way to make sure he's on the right path. It's the cutest thing ever. He needs a little assistance when it comes to stairs and getting off the bed, but he knows how to jump on to a bed and couch with ease.

Cubby is one extremely gentle soul who will make someone incredibly happy as they navigate life together!
