Meet Cryptozoa aka Zoa

Cryptozoa, also known as Zoa, spent the first two years of her life living on a mountain in Grainger county, TN surviving off scraps and trash. We were contacted after the owner of the property noticed her second litter of puppies were in danger of the upcoming cold weather. After searching everywhere she was able to locate their small den inside what appeared to be a cave dug deep into the side of this mountain. Despite the odds stacked against them, we managed to save 8 out of the 9 puppies, with the recent rains and floods claiming the ninth. We were able to trap 6 of them on the first night only leaving two behind as we could not find them anywhere. We knew the weather was only going to get worse so we headed right back out the next morning to search again. After a long search we found them at the top of the mountain with animal bones they had been scavenging on.
With the puppies safe, our attention turned to Zoa, the brave and protective mother. Battling hypothermia and the chill of the mountain, she cautiously accepted our aid, guided by her maternal instincts to ensure her pups' safety. This pivotal moment marked a new chapter in Zoa's tumultuous life.
After loading everyone up we headed home to find their forever homes. All of the puppies were able to be adopted out fairly quickly, but we knew she would take some more time to warm up to us and learn how to be a dog again. After getting her vaccines and being spayed, we took our time integrating her into our pack and learning all of her quirks.
She was hesitant but quickly showed her true colors...a goofball. She was so submissive to all of our dogs and quickly learned their routine. She began to open up to us and learned how to play with toys. She loves all of her bones and stuffed animals. Over the course of the next few months she was exposed to all kinds of new things like pack walks, patio dinners, farm animals, cats, and more. She did great with almost everything we threw at her. Her one downfall was the farm animals, but given her background that was somewhat expected. Although, she has gotten so much better with them being on the other side of the fence and has learned to ignore them for the most part. Her leash walking skills continue to improve but she is a bit of a puller as she is just excited to age anywhere with you. She is a GREAT DOG that is ready to find her forever person she can count on. Her ideal owner would be someone that is ready to commit to her and help her continue to come out of her shell. She is still a little hesitant when she first meets new humans, but after a few days of loving she is the most loyal girl who just wants to please you. She would prefer somewhere with a fenced in yard, and comfy chair for her crash in. If you think that could be please fill out the application and set up a time to come meet her.
