COURTESY POST Bella
Bella is COURTESY POST and not part of Southern AZ Beagle Rescue.
My name is Bella, and I am a 9 yr old spayed Treeing Walker Coonhound who is a mature and classy lady! I weigh about 60 pounds which is a good weight for me. I’m spayed and up to date on vaccinations. I’m house trained with a dog door. I can deal with being crated (I don’t love it), but my foster mom says that I don’t even need one because I am 100% non-destructive in the house. For the past 8 years I lived as an only dog with my person. I had to come to the shelter when my person could no longer take care of me. Boy, did my life get turned upside down! All of the barking dogs in the shelter really terrified me! The first night they put me in a kennel with this wild and crazy Husky and all I could do was lie with my head in the corner shaking. Thankfully my foster mom was volunteering that night and she got me out of there right away. At her house, I stayed in a separate room all my own for the first couple of weeks, and then she gradually introduced me to her dogs. They are friendly and we all just tend to do our own thing. I go for walks with them and hang out with them and sometimes I even sleep on the same dog bed with them. Speaking of walks, I LOVE them! I will need about a 15 minute walk each day to keep my joints moving well and to help me keep my youthful figure. It turns out I have a low thyroid level that was never treated so I got to be a bit chunky. I am on thyroid medication now, which helped me slim down, and which I will need to be on for the rest of my life. This is not expensive at all! Maybe about $11 a month. My foster mom has me on chondroitin and glucosamine and fish oil (also not expensive) for joint health plus my thyroid meds. She has taken care of a lot of seniors and she says I am in great shape - not like a 9 year old at all! I love to sleep on my own dog bed right next to her bed. She says I’ll be a great companion for some lucky adopter and that I’m a real easy keeper! If you would like to meet me or ask more questions about me, please email her at aehaber751@gmail.com.
