Meet Coral Bells

Hi, all, I’m Coral Bells. Guess what?! I'm in a foster home! I'm still available for adoption but am just living with a foster family for the time being!

Right off, I have to say at first, I thought my name was Cora Belle, given that I’m a genteel lady. Come to find out, I’m not the Belle of the Ball, I’m named after a fabulous flower. That works for me, though, because on walks, I stop and smell pretty much every flower. Just call me "Bells" for short.

Like my flower, I am soft and sweet, one of the softest coats of fur you’ll ever pet. Most super soft dogs have long, silky fur, but shed so much you could weave carpets. Me, I’m amazingly soft, but I have a short coat, so I won’t create a Super Shedder event in our home.

Unless you initiate play with my pull toy, I am so chill at home, lounging on my dog bed or the couch, chewing a bone, or licking your face while you pet me and stream a favorite show. I won’t always be in your face demanding attention, but I’ll certainly whap my tail and enjoy any attention you shower on me.

I take my food and treats gently. You can pick up my bowl mid-meal or my chew bone while I’m gnawing away, and I won’t react. I’m also gentle on walks, not pulling all the time. Sorry, you’ll have to look elsewhere to develop those bicep guns.

I do want to meet any dog or human we walk past, but I don’t go crazy, jumping and barking in an un-ladylike fashion, I just want to be social. I play really awesome with other friendly, non-reactive dogs! Cats I’d probably chase.

Speaking of barking, I don’t bark at noises, dogs passing our home, or even when the doorbell rings. Now, when it comes to squirrels and rabbits, they’re just so enticing and hard to ignore, but still, I don’t bark. Don’t you like chasing squirrels, too? Give me a fenced yard, and I’ll keep those pesky critters from chomping up our garden, guaranteed.

I take to training quite quickly. At my fosters I respond to Sit, Down, No, Paw and Walk. I don’t jump all over new people at home, which is a super trait when you have guests. I’m house trained, well-past all that puppy messiness. A lady doesn’t usually reveal her secrets or her weight, but I’m right at 50 pounds, so I’m a good mid-size to manage in any apartment or house. You can use a crate with me, but I don’t really need it.

During the day I lounge, chill, chew a bone, and you can leave me home alone while you’re out and about without worrying I’ll eat the couch. At night, just toss my dog bed into your room and I’ll lay down right away, no whining, no jumping up on the bed. Of course, if you WANT my fuzzy, soft company, I’m happy to oblige.

I’ve had an easy time meeting the humans my fosters invite over. I just lick their hands and trot off. I've met kiddos with my fosters and have done great! Just introduce me slowly and show me they’re okay and I’ll lick their faces, too.

Cars! I almost forgot about cars. Cars are awesome! I’m styling on my current convertible, but I’ll be happy to ride shotgun with you in any ride, any time. I’ll even sit and wait patiently as you shop – no whining, no yelping, totally chill, just looking forward to you coming back. I’ll either look around as we motor along or lay down and nap if we’re cruising long distance.

I'm about ten months old, have all my shots, am spayed, and have no other issues like heartworms. I follow basic commands; I’m house-trained and eager to please my new forever family. What else can a lady say? My fosters are ready to meet you anytime. Call Michiana Humane Society at (219) 872-4499 for info on meeting me because my dance card will fill up quickly with my forever family. Love, beautiful Bells.
