Meet Cora

Cora came to us earlier this year pregnant with her 9 puppies, and underweight. She took care of them and helped get them ready for their homes, and now it is her time. Cora is a gorgeous 2.5 year old, 64 pound Boxer mix who came to us from West Virginia.

Cora is a love-bug who wants to be close to people. She'll curl up next to you on the couch, or in bed, and snuggle in. She does like sleeping on her back, so watch out for stretched out paws in the air while she sleeps.

She is good with other dogs and loves playing with them. She would do well as an only dog getting all the attention, or with another dog who is willing to play with her. She is a social girl, so she'd do well with someone who is home most of the time, or who can take her to daycare a few days a week so she isn't alone while they are gone.

She loves chewing on toys, sunning herself outside, sleeping in strange positions, using other dogs and people as pillows, occasionally sounding like a Wookie, and sometimes snorting like a pig.

She also enjoys running around the yard, going for walks (use a harness), playing with doggy friends, and people watching from a window.

If you're looking for a cuddle buddy and a dog that loves people, Cora is your girl. She does get excited when she sees people, so small children are not recommended as she might accidentally knock them over.

This poor sweetie came in with Lyme disease but that hasn’t affected her happy personality one bit! Lyme is a tick borne disease that is not contagious to other dogs or humans but will remain in her system, throughout her life.

Cora may have an occasional flare-up which would be indicated by joint pain/inflammation, limping, lethargy and possible loss of appetite. Typically a dose of antibiotics is enough to make the disease go dormant again. To help control the Lyme, Cora will need a yearly Lyme vaccine. Should she have multiple flare ups in a short amount of time, her kidneys could be affected. Lyme has become more prevalent in the southern states, and many dogs with this disease have lived long happy lives!

If you would like to meet Cora, please go to our website at www.rescueahart.org and fill out an online adoption application.

All HART dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccines, including bordatella and rabies. They are heartworm tested and on preventative for heartworm, fleas, and ticks. If you are interested in any of our pets, you must complete an online dog adoption application at www.rescueAhart.org . The application will put you in touch with this wonderful dog's foster family so you can schedule a meeting. Thanks! www.rescueAhart.org
