Meet Copper (ADOPTED!)

COPPER HAS BEEN ADOPTED!! Meet Copper, an adorable, goofy, lovable, and affectionate 3-year-old male Hound/Lab mix who needs a home! Copper (FKA Karl) was adopted from Pal's Place when he was a young puppy in December 2019. He was adopted into a house with a mother and her 4-year-old child. It was just the three of them for two years, and Copper did great. A year ago, a new baby and a male partner moved into the home, and Copper struggled to adjust. Unfortunately, Copper's previous adopters decided to return him to our care to find a home where he would be more comfortable. Copper was not exposed to many men when he was younger and can be timid around some men. He's not aggressive; he just does his best to avoid them. Since being back in our care, Copper has met two men who he warmed up to very quickly, so we feel he could live in a home with men as long as they understand his fears, are patient with him, and are willing to give him the time and space he needs to come to them on his terms. He was also nervous around the 1-year-old baby once they became more mobile. Very young infants make movements and noises very foreign to dogs, so it is not unusual for them to be unsure of babies when they first start crawling around the house. Again, he was not aggressive; he did his best to keep his distance. This sweet boy loves to go for long walks, play with his toys, and watch passersby out the window. He also loves snuggling and cuddling up on the couch with his people. Copper is housetrained, trustworthy when left uncrated in the home for reasonable amounts of time, knows his basic commands, and is generally well-behaved. He loves other dogs and has attended daycare regularly in the past. Copper has always done well with school-aged children and women. He'd love his own family again soon, come and meet him today!

Copper is currently in a foster home on Chicago's northside and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. His adoption fee to the rescue is $375. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested (negative), and taking monthly flea and heartworm prevention. He is ready to go home today! For more information or an application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit palsplacerescue.org. We cannot hold our dogs for any reason. Please do not apply unless you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into the home within three days of applying.
