Meet Copper

Hi, my name is Copper! Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Very sweet older companion looking for a snuggle buddy.
-Can Live with Kids: Yes, kids ages 12+ with dog experience.
-Can Live with Cats: No history, will require slow and proper introductions.
-Can Live with Dogs: Yes, will need an easy going dog that will allow him to explore vs play. Another scenthound would be ideal.
-Can do Apartment Living: No - is a hound and is very vocal.
-Potty Trained: Unknown, has marked in his kennel and the get acquainted rooms at WHS. Will likely require potty training.
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes, one to three private lessons depending on adopter experience.
-Experience Required: Breed experience not mandatory, but research is encouraged. Copper will need his family's help adjusting to home life and he should not be your first dog.
-Leash Trained: Yes, but pulls strongly when excited
-Energy Level: Medium/High
- Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Already neutered and ready to go
-Additional Information: A very sweet boy, who loves his people and wants to snuggle. When hes not snuggled up next to you Copper loves to be outside and go on adventures. Cooper is a scenthound and will follow his nose wherever it takes him. This means his home will need to be ready to keep him contained in the yard or he will go off on his own adventures. Copper is not suited for people with close neighbors as he looooves to sing (but not everyone likes to listen). Copper came to WHS as a stray and so much of his history is unknown: It is possible he has never lived indoors! He has exhibited some stress behaviors when being left alone in a home environment and would do best with a family that is not going to leave him alone for more than a few hours at a time. He would benefit from crate training, access to a securely fenced yard, and loving patience as he adjusts to becoming a lifelong companion dog.
