Meet Copper
Hi there, my name is Copper. I am about 2.5 years old and about 7 lbs. I am looking for a 'forever' home.
Copper is a 7 lb., 2-1/2 year old pretty boy. He came to us from an over populated pet environment where there were way to many dogs that were not well socialized. Copper is able to connect with the other dog in the foster home and actually does much better by following the resident dog and taking cues from the resident dog. It is for this reason we are only considering applicants with another the size of Copper that is confident but not overbearing. Copper will also need a space/kennel that he can call his own as that is where he goes to feel safe. He has started to interact with the resident dog and is now showing interest in play time.
He is very shy at meeting and is learning to be ok with people and receiving attention. He is very sweet but can be protective of his space which is not a surprise due to the environment he was in previously.
Copper is a great little dog but will need a special home with someone will to give him attention slowly on his terms with another confident dog to show him how great it is to be part of a family.
He is still struggling to understand marking is not an indoor behavior nor is marking other dogs while they are peeing. We are working on using a belly band on in the house.
Copper prefers men to women and trusts them much quicker. He needs a dog man in his world that understands behaviour and body language to excel and grow.
He isn't a cuddly dog at this point and doesn't like being held and carried although we all want to. He is building trust and allows being picked up as long as we put him down within a short time and do not walk around.
Please note that Little Mutts Rescue adoption fees are generally $475 for dogs 1-3 years old (young adult), $350 for dogs that are 4-7 years old (mature adult), $250 for dogs over 8+ years old (senior). Includes spay / neuter, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchip, and a vet certificate of health (please note that if puppies are born in Calgary, we do not have a vet certificate to provide). If you are interested in adopting, please submit an adoption application at http://www.littlemuttsrescue.org/adopt/index.html
