Cooper's Story

Cooper is a 2 year, 9 month old black-and-cream dachshund.

He is active and loves to walk. He is also playful with other dogs, but takes a few days to warm up and interact. He enjoys younger and older dogs who are playful. He has separation anxiety, but we are starting him on prozac. He can be weaned (or not) after 3 months in his forever home. He loves to play ball and has a ball machine.

He arrived with brother Oscar, but we are accepting applications both together or separately with the former owner's blessing, as they have two very different lifestyle needs. He is an anxious/busy boy, so he needs to be kept busy.

Cooper's Ideal Home:
*Active people who walk once or twice a day (at least 2 miles cumulatively)
*Playful dachshund companion-boy or girl ok
*A quiet home is best
*Tweens/teens ok but likely no small kids
* Home setting with a fenced back yard as he doesn't like to potty on a leash

To be considered, please apply on our website:

https://www.portlanddachshundrescue.org/adoptionform

Portland Dachshund Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
OUR CRITERIA There's nothing better than a successful match. We like to explain the process of finding the right rescue dog as being similar to online dating: You will want to check our site often to see who is new, read each bio and reach out if you think they might have found someone special. Our adoption team is highly skilled at helping you find a dog with the right personality that will fit your family and lifestyle. Occasionally, we receive multiple promising applications for a dog and ultimately match the dog with the home where we think they will do best. We are committed to helping you find a dog even if you don't "match" on your first attempt. We would love nothing more than to help you find the forever dog of your dreams. Although we like to tailor each match, we do have some basic criteria we look with respect to adoptive homes: *Homes should be non-smoking *Have a securely fenced yard *Ability to commit to yearly dentals and shots for the pet *Willingness to purchase ramps and pet stairs to safeguard the dog's back
