Comet, 2 year old, neutered male, hound/retriever mix, 56 pounds. Comet is in a foster home in San Antonio, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up!

Comet AKA Buddy was saved from the county shelter in San Antonio, having been rescued from the streets with a friend, Essie. Both dogs were saved without plans and have since landed in foster homes!

Buddy lives in a foster home with another (female) dog. He was initially wary when being introduced but now is very friendly and playful. He has a fairly high but not obnoxious energy level and loves to run the zoomies. Buddy would love having a canine sibling for companionship. He has a good playstyle and has show no food/resource aggression around the resident dogs.

We have no history with cats or kids, but he will be tested with kids soon. Based upon his behavior to date, the foster has no concerns about his ability to get along well with young children. We typically recommend a home with kids aged 10 years or older, or those who can understand and respect animal behavior cues.

Buddy is fully house, crate and leash trained. He sleeps in his kennel at night and does not whine or cry, and he does not pull on the leash. Since going into foster, he has not had any accidents in the house and will alert you when he needs to go potty. Buddy doesn't appear to have any issues with separation anxiety but is crated when he isn't able to be supervised because his one vice is loving to chew - he's chewed two dog beds so far!

While he has made strong strides in the short time he's been in a foster home, Buddy is still a bit wary of new people but does go to greet them. Having likely been rebuffed while running wild, as soon as Buddy knows he’s not going to be hit/kicked, he opens up.

Buddy's favorite thing is to please, so he has been easy to train and does not require hard corrections. He is very sweet, affectionate and seeks out cuddles, happy to be anywhere with you. He is a resilient and adaptable dog who is looking for his forever buddy!

***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. ***
