Meet Colette

Hello there! I'm Colette and let's just kick this off by saying Everyone Loves Me! I promise I'm not bragging or fibbing. It's true! I keep hearing all the volunteers say it. I hear the staff here saying it. Everyone that meets me is just gushing, "I love Colette!"

It makes me feel soooo good! I am in love with each of them too! So I love about 15 people right now HA HA HA! For a long time, my first 7 months of life, I just loved one person, my owner. She was an elderly woman and we were mostly just at home together, with my cat siblings. I didn't know what a leash was! I guess the correct term might be -- under-socialized. That's what I was. But I was VERY well loved I know that for sure! I lived in the house and out in the yard. I liked both spots. One day, unfortunately, I bumped into her, knocked her over, and she broke her leg. That's not good when you're elderly, and she realized she couldn't give me the life I needed to live and plus also she was going to be in the hospital for awhile.

So she reached out to the people at Desert Haven for help and they came and rescued me. I was on my own in my yard for a week! Cripes, that was scary! But then these two nice ladies from Desert Haven came by to pick me up. It took me all of five seconds to decide to let my defenses down and just nuzzle my weary head into their laps! I'm just a puppy after all! I'm only 8 months old total! I needed help and saving so I was so relieved to see people.

Then, they tried to put a leash on me. HA HA HA I didn't know a thing about that so I lay down flat like a pancake. Then later getting into a car was the next thing they wanted to do. WHAT?! Never did that so I lay down flat like a tortilla. All these new things were ridiculous! But I kept getting a little braver and a little more relaxed every day and now I proudly and oh so happily go on leash walks. I love to romp and play and be with people, oh how I love people! I love affection, snuggles, belly rubs, all of it. The people here have gotten me up to date on puppy shots, my rabies shot, and I even got my spay surgery oof! It's been a flurry of activity and now I'm all ready for ... drum roll please ... my new family to come to meet me!

Here are some of my stats: I'm 63 pounds and growing. I've got these very large paws y'all. I started out at a breeder so it's known that these are my actual breeds: Great Pyrenees and Maremma Sheepdog. I am loving, playful, sweet, and will make a good guard dog. I'm an active darling puppy at 8 months of age. I was named Colette because I looked like a French poodle as a baby.

I am very good with other dogs and cats, per my former owner. Since I knocked over my elderly former owner, I'd maybe be too rowdy for small children but would do great with a family that has sturdy children.

Here is one thing of which I can assure you: Being with me will be the very best part of every one of our days together! So I hope we meet very soon and we can get started on the rest of our lives together. Love you so much, Colette
