Here is more about Coco!
2 ½ years old, 58-pound Pitbull Terrier mix
House-Trained: Yes! And does great on a schedule.
Crate-Trained: Yes – her crate is her decompression area and sleeps there at night and is crated when her fosters are out. She must have a crate; it is her safe space.
Other Dogs: Coco is good with other dogs. Her playstyle is instigator; however, she can be redirected if it gets to be too much and can keep it reciprocal.
Cats: Before Pet Haven, Coco lived with cats and ignored them.
Kids: Coco does have some wariness about new people and potential unpredictable movement. Dog savvy kids and slow intros would do her well.
Apartments/Shared-wall Environments: No.
Training: She knows basic commands and her fosters are working on creating a calm environment to help her. She also knows sit, shake, down, roll over. Her fosters are also working on impulse control and human relevance. Continued training for bonding is highly recommended after she gets to know you.
Coco has not had the easiest life. She has been bounced from home to home every three months or so. Coco needs her people to go at her speed when it comes to introducing new things – people, pets, environments, etcetera. She does have stranger danger (lots of barking due to fear) because of her unstable housing and people she could not trust. However, when you earn her trust, she is the sweetest pup you will ever meet. She NEEDS stability and people she can trust to treat her well, nourish and take care of her. Coco would thrive in a quiet home with less coming and going too.
Once she trusts, she is a people lover and people pleaser. She loves nothing more than to give kisses to her people. She also likes puzzle toys, chew toys, time spent with her humans, play time, and walks. She is an investigator of smells and will sometimes be a bit stubborn trying to investigate a scent too intensely. She does have some inconsistent barking on walks, but we believe over time, through training and trust, this will become less frequent. And a fenced yard would be awesome but not needed as long as she has a few short walks each day.
Coco is a wonderful dog who needs to find the right family to allow her time, space, patience, and love.
Her adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, & Bordetella), HW and flea/tick preventative, and microchip implant and registration.
There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best guess.
Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.
Due to post-adoption services provided, it is Pet Haven's policy to only place dogs into homes within a 75-mile radius of the Minneapolis, MN city center.
