Meet Clyde

Clyde is a four year old Great Dane who has not had the best of care prior to arrival with us. He is now neutered, his stomach has been tacked, he has been heartworm treated and is gaining weight. This is all good news for this big guy.

He was out to foster over the holidays and this is the write-up done by the foster:

Here is Clyde! We think his previous name may have been Pepper. When I said puppers, he quickly responded. We are calling him Pepper for the most part, and he responds. What a great dog!

This boy is amazing. Will sniff counters but not a quick food snatcher and redirects well. Gets along with foster sister, but can be too much. Will play and settle back down in a hurry like great Danes will. He has the famous GD couch sit! I haven't met one that doesn't sit like this. Knows to stay off the couch otherwise. Will drag a blanket or his dog bed to wherever it is he wants to lay. Kennels well.

Not food aggressive. Good with children but does get aggravated with made to move when he is comfortable. For that reason he is NOT recommended with small children.

Housetrained. Barked when needed out, will scratch door to get back in. Loves looking out the window. He will bark, but nothing excessive. He wears a handi collar and is doing well if we need to grab it to calm him down. Accepts visitors, only barks at some, but no aggression. His size and bark are sure built in safety features.

Knows and follows the 'sit' command VERY well. Easily teachable. Somewhat food motivated. Loves his tug-o-war toy. Loves car rides, all the scratches and pets. We haven't found a no touch place. He will make a great dog in the right home.

His adoption fee is $300.00 which will cover part of the medical expenses the shelter spent. If interested in this beautiful boy please go to our website at www.patriotsforpets.com and submit an application.
