CLOVER!!!! Bull Terrier Mix Lincoln, NE

The Cubbies had the curse of the Goat, until 2016. The Huskers allegedly carry the curse of Frank Solich, supposedly squashed by his appearance at the spring game this past weekend. But those curses in history were established by specific events. Clover never threw a dog out of Wrigley Field. Clover never unjustifiably fired a winning coach. Clover, what in the H-E-double HOCKEY STICKS DID YOU DO?!?

Four years.
Clover has been waiting for forever for four years. And she’s only SIX years old! One thousand, four hundred and sixty days, give or take of WAITING. THAT’S 28 FLIPPIN’ DOG YEARS. This rescue was not yet founded when she was surrendered to the shelter in Kansas City. The year of our birth, she was transferred to a different shelter in the Kansas City Area. When no one came for her there after two more years, Lawrence Humane Society decided to take a crack at her slope-faced cuteness and then THEY took her on. All these shelters, advocating for this dog to find her forever home, and then we stepped up when Lawrence contacted us over a YEAR ago. So what is it, CloverBover? What governors’ shoe did you piss on? Lol JK YOU DON’T PEE ON ANYTHING YOU ARENT SUPPOSED TO. This is MADDENING.
Now, again, we love each and every dog that has come into this rescue, mmmkay? And we have had PUUHHHLENTY of dogs that needed to go to homes where they were the only animal. We found those dogs the homes they needed to thrive. And will all do respect, many of those dogs have sucked PROFOUNDLY worse than Clover. AND THEY WEREN’T NEARLY AS CUTE. She’s not going to tear up your furniture! She’s not going to blow Koolaid man shaped holes in your drywall! She’s not going to cash out your 401k and head to TA-friggin-HITI. She will ABSOULUTELY match your energy like a pro. If you come busting in on her like you won the Powerball, she’s gonna celebrate with you. If you approach her in a calm manner, she’s gonna chill. She’s not going to jump your fence. She’s going to learn your commands and try the best she can to please you even though she gets SO EXCITED to meet a new friend. This girl is trying ALWAYS to make better choices. Always trying to find a place to belong. Clover loves the outdoors, kennels like a pro and strives to make people happy.
Clover’s life isn’t in any danger. She never will be as long as any of us are alive. There’s not going to be another transfer- she’s a Pheenie until we get this squared up. Clover lives with Kaydee these days, one of the most amazing, hard working fosters we have. Kaydee and her fam, under their own volition and on their own dime, put in a privacy fence in her own special area so Clover could have her own safe space to run. They love her like she was their own. But that’s the thing…she isn’t. This is a VERY adoptable dog to the right person in the right set of circumstances, and this dog is a companion through and through. She will absolutely make your life better as long as you give her the structure she NEEDS to thrive. And while Clover sits and burns up daylight at Casa de Kaydee, there are dogs day in, day out, under the same set of circumstances, that ARE in perilous danger that we wish we could help, but we can’t. Not until Clover checks out and moves on to the forever home she’s been waiting for- for the entire life she probably remembers.
Waiting.
Patiently waiting. Watching people pass her kennel door over and over, growing ever so hopeful… then waiting some more.
