Meet Cleopatra

APPLICATIONS ARE CURRENTLY ON HOLD/NO LONGER BEING ACCEPTED WHILE WE REVIEW THE MANY APPLICATIONS ALREADY RECEIVED FOR CLEO
We will update her status once we have reviewed all of the current applicants who may be a match for her needs.

Introducing Cleopatra aka "CLEO"
Cleo is a female, 5 yrs young St Bernard, smooth coat, who was abandoned when her owner moved and was surrendered to our care by our local animal control/pound.

Cleo is being fostered with another dog, cats and children and is a sweet, lovely girl. She loves to have a "den" area (she loves a nook under the foster's stairs where she brings her toys and likes to nap).
She does not require crating as she is not destructive and does not have separation anxiety but she would love a cozy quiet area for napping. She gets along well with everyone (not appropriate for small animals as she loves the family rabbit a bit too much)
Cleo is a great couch snuggler and also loves her daily walks.

Cleo has been settling into her foster home well and has now completed her vetting including spay, microchip, vaccinations, deworming and will be having her dental on Nov 17th. She will be available to join her forever family after she recovers from her dental.

Cleo is taking Propalin daily which has resolved her urinary incontinence, and she will need to remain on this for life. Cleo was quite finicky when she arrived, but is now eating much better since her spay surgery. She loves raw beef tripe with her meals, and is currently eating a combination of Mega Dog Raw Beef, goat's milk and Diamond Naturals grain free beef kibble while we continue to regain her weight as she arrived very thin.

Cleo's minimum donation adoption fee is $650. Our vet expenses for her care and food/supplies have far exceeded this amount but our priority is for Cleo to have her best forever home. We work hard on fundraisers in order to pay down our vet expenses, but adoption fees certainly do help us help more in need.

Please read her entire profile before applying. An adoption application must be submitted to be considered. If the dog's listing is still showing, they are still accepting applications. Please do not email asking if she is still available if her listing is still active. We receive hundreds of emails per day and also work full time. Priority will be given to replying to applicants who are submitting an application after reading her entire profile.

Only applicants who meet each dog's criteria for their ideal forever home will be contacted. You MUST submit an adoption application prior to being considered , see instructions at the bottom of this profile.

Notes:
Children must be gentle and experienced with dogs/dog savvy
We are located in St Jacobs and require two meetings before final adoption.
Pools/hot tubs or ponds must be separately fenced from yard
Owned or rented homes welcome with landlord's permission, apartments would not be suitable for Cleo.

If you are interested in applying to adopt a dog from Hobo Haven Rescue, please visit hobohavenrescue.ca to download an adoption application and submit via email to hobohavenpetrescue@gmail.com.
Applications MUST be either in Word or PDF format, or copied into an email to send via email.
If you are having trouble downloading, feel free to email us and we can send you an application as well.

Cleo's adoption fee is a minimum donation of $650. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate vaccinations, fecal testing, dentals if required, deworming if needed, Heartworm and Tick disease testing, Advantage prevention, and all medical treatments and surgeries required during their time with us.

For anyone possibly interested in adopting from Hobo Haven, here are a few, but not all, criteria to be aware of:

We require all applicants to watched "Petfooled" which is a free documentary on Netflix or Youtube. Our motto is "know better/do better" and we ask all adoptive families to be as committed to providing our dogs with quality nutrition as they are to providing love. This documentary is not advertising, purely just educational.

An adoption application must be completed and approved, as well as a home visit (Zoom during COVID), prior to meeting available dogs. All dogs are placed in loving foster homes during their time with us, we do not have a shelter to visit.

We do not allow applicants to visit until pre-approved for adoptions. Any questions may be emailed to hobohavenpetrescue@gmail.com

Due to the high volume of applications received for our dogs, priority of replies will be given to applicants who meet the criteria mentioned in the pet's profile.
Please do not ask us to make exceptions, we set these protocols and policies for the dog's best interests which are always our highest priority.

Emails are best, our volunteers work full time and are often not able to answer or return phone calls in a timely manner.
