Cindy Lou is long overdue for a family to call her own, who will love her and give her the training she needs to thrive in a home. She loves to be outdoors, so her ideal home is a house with a backyard, and so she is not suitable for apartment living. She gets very excited when meeting new people and will jump up on them, so for this reason she will be better in a home with kids who are a bit older and will not be knocked down if she jumps. She will need training to overcome this behaviour.

Cindy Lou’s ideal family will work with her to teach her how to be a family dog. Living as a stray on the streets meant she had to fend for herself, so understanding love and affection is still new to her. When she is fed, she tends to eat very quickly, so slow feeding food dishes may be best until she learns to slow down her pace and learns that no one is going to steal her food. Additionally, she does guard food around dogs, and may display these tenancies around young children who don’t understand not to touch her food or chew items, so a home with older children who will know not to grab her food or items she is eating is recommended.

Cindy Lou loves walks, and being active outdoors, so a family who can commit to walking her 30+ min, 2-3 times per day, plus offer her backyard exercise is needed. She does pull on her leash so will need training to learn walking manners.

Backstory: Cindy Lou came in as a stray in January. NDR pulled her and she was HW+ after receiving her treatment, and recovering she is now negative and ready for her new home!
