Meet Chloe
Chloe is a three year old Cattle Dog who is ready for her perfect forever home. She’s an athletic and energetic dog who will make a great hiking companion or sport dog. She’s very smart and trainable, and highly food motivated. She’s a total love bug once she gets to know you, a silly girl who loves attention but doesn’t need to be in your face all the time.
Chloe rides well in the car, laying quietly in the backseat or looking out a window. She loves to go for walks and hikes, and would be a great nosework dog – she loves to sniff out every little thing. Chloe has a lot of energy and will need an adopter who can provide her with a lot of exercise and mental stimulation.
Chloe weighs 39 lbs, is spayed, HW negative, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives.
Chloe would be best as an only dog, although a calm male dog might work. She is seriously squirrel obsessed in her foster home, and is anxious to give chase to critters including cats, so a cat-free home is a must. A yard with a physical fence is preferred, but depending on location and her adopters’ experience with off-leash training, it may not be required. No underground fencing please.
Chloe is housebroken and crate trained, but she’s currently left loose in the house while foster mom goes to work with no problems.
Chloe is cautious of strangers, particularly men, due to previous mistreatment by a man, but has improved in foster care. She will warm up fairly quickly to new women with patience and treats. A woman-only / adult-only home is preferred, but she may be okay with a man who is calm and patient, and allows her to accept him at her own pace. She hasn’t been tested with children and with her background, the quick movements of children, may be overwhelming to her.
Chloe can be protective of the home towards visitors, and her adopter will need to manage introductions carefully. Once she gets to know someone she welcomes them into the home. She’s extremely responsive to her person’s verbal cues, which makes training easy.
She should go to a home with breed experience who understands that she will need time to acclimate to a new home and person, and will continue to provide positive reinforcement training and an activity level commiserate with her age and breed.
