Meet Chiquita

Chiquita joined us on February 13, 2019. She has been with over a year. We will pay all expenses. We just want her in a good home for however long she has.

Chiquita was surrendered to a local shelter at 13 years old for yeasty skin. She was going to be euthanized. She's super sweet. Her little tail wags often. She loves everyone she meets. She loves to be under the covers. She loves to play ball & play with squeaky toys. Shes so cute running around the house wagging her tail with a toy in her mouth. She loves children & loves playing dress up. She was treated for a yeast infection on her skin. She had 9 teeth pulled during a dental. She had an echo. She's not in congestive heart failure yet. She takes vetmedin for the heart. She'll need an echo every 6 months. She recently had her repeat echo. The cardiologist said nothing changed on his tests. I've noticed her coughing more. We recently noticed a tiny mammary tumor. The vet removed it & wanted to do another dental at the same time. He couldn't as she couldn't handle the additional anesthesia. So the vet & I agree her heart has progressed even though the tests haven't shown any progress. She's heartworm negative, microchipped, & spayed. She's up to date on shots, flea and heartworm prevention. She had a negative fecal. She's 10 lbs. She's housebroken and crate trained. She's left free and is not destructive. She will use a potty pad. She loves running in the yard. She has severe storm anxiety so shes on prozac. Chiquita gets really jealous of other dogs. I'd prefer her to get a chance to live the rest of her life out without dogs or only mellow ones. She loves cats. Her first home was extremely abusive. With us she must compete for attention. She's extremely happy but I'd like her to experience the best for the time she has left. She would do great with any home but she needs a yard to be happy. She likes to sun herself & play ball. We will pay all veterinary costs. We are unsure how much time she has left.

She's located in New Orleans, but we adopt out of state.
