BIO:
Chip was turned into a shelter in southern Alabama by his previous owners who said they could not housebreak him after a year. We have had no problem with him so we suspect there were other reasons.

Chip had his dental and no teeth were lost. Yea!!! Chip is a laid back and happy dog. He is very friendly when he meets new dogs and people. Chip loves his people and loves to snuggle. He wants to be with you and does not understand when he is left behind. He does not like the crate and will bark and cry when he has to go in. We are working with him on this. Chip will adjust when he learns your schedule and understands you will come back for him.

This little guy loves to play with toys. He is a typical dachshund and will destroy them in a heartbeat! Chip is starting to play a little with my other dachshund. I think he will start doing zoomies with her soon. Another thing Chip loves is car rides. He is always ready to be your little co-pilot!

Chip has a few more pounds to lose but it should not be a problem because he loves to go on walks. He is trained to a doggy door and has not had any accidents. He does not mark in the house. Chip will use ramps/stairs he cannot jump.

Our wish list for Chip includes:
• A fenced yard
• Another adult small breed dog to keep him company and cuddle with.
• No apartments or high rises
• Someone home a lot because he does not like to be left alone.
• Someone patient until he learns the rules of the house.

If you want great companion and snuggle buddy then please fill out an application. Please don’t make him wait for his forever home!!!

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
