Chip’s FAQs

What is Red Barn Rescue’s adoption process?

Dogs in our care are spayed or neutered, receive all age appropriate vaccines and Rabies vaccine, are heartworm tested, and kept on heartworm preventative and flea and tick preventative. Sometimes dental work, surgeries, heartworm treatments, and other procedures are performed. We require potential adopters to fill out an adoption application and be approved prior to meeting the dog. In order to be considered people must list current pets in home, and pets must be up to date on vaccines, heartworm prevention and altered. Part of our adoption process may include a home visit. Once approved, we will schedule an appointment for you to bring your dog, family, etc. to meet the dog of interest. Adopters are expected to cover future vet visits and keep pets up to date on heartworm/flea preventatives, and vaccines. If you are looking for a particular type or breed of dog, please fill out an application and let us know what you hope to adopt. Our adoption fee reflects what we invest to get dogs healthy and ready for adoption. We require that our rescue receives the dog back if you can no longer care for it.
