She's very food-motivated, which makes training a breeze!<br/><br/>She does need to be fed separately from other dogs, as she can be protective of her food--but she has absolutely no issues with people.<br/><br/>If you're looking for a joyful, affectionate companion who's always ready to make you smile, Chica might just be your girl. <br/><br/>Ready to let this sweet, silly puppy steal your heart?<br/><br/>IMPORTANT MEDICAL INFORMATION:<br/>This sweet pup has a heart condition called subaortic stenosis (SAS) -- that means there's a bit of narrowing in the pathway blood takes as it leaves her heart. She underwent an ultrasound while with us in rescue, which was examined by a Professor of Veterinary Cardiology in North Carolina.<br/><br/>Right now, at 6 months old, she's still growing, so it's too early to know exactly how serious it will be. We'll know more once she turns 1 year old. The good news is that her current heart scans show her heart isn't enlarged and she's not in heart failure, which is a very positive sign.<br/><br/>She'll likely need to take a heart medication called atenolol (approx. $10 per month at the most) for life and have a heart ultrasound (echocardiogram) once a year to keep an eye on things.<br/><br/>Dogs with this condition can live happy, comfortable lives--often for many years (around seven or more on average).
