Chewy Chihuahua Mix Tucumcari, NM

Chewy is a 4 year old Chihuahua mix who's elderly owner is no longer able to care for him.

Chewy is fixed, up to date on shots, and walks fairly well on a leash. He is looking for a quiet home where he can enjoy naps, attention, and the occasional walk. He weighs about 16 pounds and is very tall and lanky.

Chewy, who came in a few weeks ago, has made himself comfortable with our pack. He is mostly housebroken but still has a few accidents if it's very cold or wet outside.

Chewy gets along with our other dogs as long as they respect his personal space. He does not hesitate to flash his teeth and growl if they get too close.

Despite his name, Chewy has not shown any interest in toys and has not chewed on anything.

Chewy has lots of personality and makes us laugh with his wrinkly forehead and demanding attitude. He is strongly motivated by attention and treats. Once he realizes that you are not a threat, he is happy to curl up on your lap like a kitten or perch on your shoulder like a parrot. He is cat-reactive; we are working on that.All adoption fees include spay/neuter, all shots up to adoption date, and lifetime microchip registration.
All medium or large dogs will be adopted to homes with at least a 5 ft secure fence. All adopted dogs are eligible for free beginner basic training to help transition to their furever homes go as smoothly as possible.
