Meet Chewy

CHEWY IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
Chewy is an amazing dog with a gentle spirit. He is kitty friendly. He is shy and timid at first. In the short time of 2 weeks since Chewy has been in our home, he has made huge strides. Chewy needs patience, time, and love to feel comfortable in being himself. He needs the space to adjust and the encouragement that he is loved in this process. With this I have no doubt you will see the sweet and goofy pup he is in no time. Chewy prances and wiggles in the mornings and when hes excited. He greets us with his beautiful smile and is very vocal about telling you how happy he is. He has this low pitch tone he talks in... its too adorable (yes it sounds like Chewbacca)! Chewy loves to cuddle... he lays his head on your lap, and rolls over for belly rubs. He loves to be outside, is timid at first when taken him on walks (I thinks its because of his multiple transitions), yet once he feels more comfortable he loves to walk and walks right by your side. He listens very well, yet sometimes needs encouragement with a small treat. When asked to go to crate, he willing goes after a couple times of using a treat for motivation. (He can stay in the crate for a work day, but we haven't had him in longer than 6 hours). He is sensitive to loud noises, and is scared of toy balls being bounced or thrown. That being said, he does enjoy toys and likes to be playful with a bone or a small stuff animal. He has been excellent during bath time with little to no attempts of struggling to get out of the tub. Then does the happy dance, wagging that happy strong tail of his! Chewy loves car rides, hanging out on the couch, giving kisses, and gives you his paw when he doesn't want you to leave or stop petting him. He is friendly with other dogs in passing and during meet and greets. After some time with him, its clear he does not get along with male dogs. His behavior is due to his past bad experiences of no fault of his own, and this behavior does NOT define him. It would be better for Chewy if he was the ONLY spoiled pup in the home, yet gets along great with kitties. Chewy will benefit from continued structure and encouragement so he feels secure and loved and reminded everyday he is safe and hes not going anywhere. Cheesy as it may be, Chewy deserves the best home and best family that will love him and give him that happy life he so badly deserves! If Chewy chooses you, you will get the chance to see how truly amazing he is and you will get to experience his wonderful and joyful personality!
