Cheryl's Story
***Help save Houston dogs lives! Our shelter is located just outside of Houston TX (but we transport to your area), not only would you be adopting an amazing dog but you'd also give room to the next dog that needs our help!

Meet This Sweet, Shy Girl – A Hidden Gem Waiting to Shine

This beautiful Lab-looking girl is as sweet as she is shy. With her soft eyes and gentle presence, she reminds us so much of Lizzie and Maggie. Though she may not approach right away, there’s a quiet warmth in her that’s just waiting to come out with a little patience and love.

Right now, she’s very timid—truly a “big scaredy cat.” New environments and unfamiliar people make her nervous, and she’ll often show it by tucking her tail tightly and keeping her distance. She avoids direct interaction at first, but she’s not aggressive—just unsure.

Give her a few minutes and a calm, gentle approach, and she’ll begin to slowly come out of her shell. She may sniff you cautiously from behind, her way of saying she’s curious but still figuring things out. She tolerates gentle petting—even if she freezes at first—and with quiet encouragement, she starts to relax and open up.

Within minutes, you’ll start to see glimpses of the sweet, sensitive dog she truly is. She’s not just looking for a home—she’s looking for someone to believe in her. With time, consistency, and lots of love, she’ll grow into a loyal and loving companion.

If you have a quiet home and a big heart, this special girl just might be the perfect match. Come meet her—and see the beauty in helping a shy soul blossom.

- Very timid and shy; described as a “big scaredy cat”

- Shows fear with tail tucked tightly between legs

- Initially very hesitant, avoids direct interaction

- Slowly warms up with gentle encouragement

- Sniffs cautiously from behind as a safer way to explore

- Tolerates gentle petting (freezes but no aggression)

- Gradually becomes more comfortable within minutes

- Sweet girl who just needs patience, reassurance, and confidence-building
