Checkers Terrier Mix Cumming, GA

Hi friends! My name is Checkers and I am SO excited to meet my new family! Where are you? I’m waiting patiently but it’s OH’ so very hard! Let’s talk about me, everyone else does because, well …I don’t want to brag but, I’m told I’m super handsome and smart too! So, here’s the skinny…I’m told I am about 5 months old and weigh about 25 pounds. I’m getting to be a big boy now but they say I won’t get too big, maybe around 40 pounds? I simply adore other dogs, people, and kids too! However, I would prefer kids over the age of 5 since I’m still a puppy and learning the ropes. I have been known to get so excited that I get just a little mouthy, but I’ve been doing really good with that lately. I’ve learned so much already! I potty outside, I sleep through the night, and I'm pretty good on the leash too! I don’t mind my puppy pen for short breaks and napping either but remember, I’m just a baby and need several potty breaks and lots of snuggles!

I love the outdoors, playing with other dogs, and chasing a ball, they are so much fun! ? I don’t have to have a Fur-sibling, but it would be pretty cool! I really would like a fenced yard, I love running! But don’t worry, if you don’t have a yard, we can have some active adventures together. It would be terribly exciting to go on walks, hikes and fun stuff like that, don’t you agree? So, come on! What are you waiting for? Let’s make some plans!

Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies.

Puppies - We do not adopt puppies under 16 weeks to out of state adopters. This is due to our spay/neuter policy, and all dogs must be spayed/neutered before leaving Georgia state lines. We do not adopt siblings to the same household.

Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered.

Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption.
