Chase Labrador Retriever Mix Manhattan, KS

Chase is a 3-year-old, 65 pound lab mix that came to us with an unknown history. We believe he has some hound in him as he is very inquisitive and does quite a bit of sniffing, tracking, and some pointing.
Chase’s favorite activities include being with his people, running off leash for 5-10 minutes a day, napping on the couch for the majority of the day, chewing on his hoof toys, watching out windows, and going on car rides.
He can be reserved with new people, places, and dogs and will require some time and a confident, experienced owner to properly acclimate him to his new home. He much prefers to be the one to initiate contact and does not appreciate anyone or anything rushing at his face. For that reason he should probably be in a home that does not have young children (under 10 years old) and where he is the only dog. However, once he has decided that you are his people, he is a VERY loyal companion.
He is house trained, walks pretty well on a leash, and is not food aggressive. He didn’t mind crate training, but is allowed to have free reign of living areas while his fosters are at work. He knows a few basic commands, but is pretty sure that “sit” and “lay down” are interchangeable. He is neutered and current on vaccines (Rabies, DHLPP, and Bordetella), internal parasite treatment, and heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. So far he does his best to avoid cats and has ignored guinea pigs in cases and turtles in aquariums.
Chase’s ideal home would be with a family that is active, but calm. They should be able to keep him busy and play with him, but can also respect his space when he is resting. Chase is a good boy who deserves a forever home that is the perfect fit for him.
