Charlotte & Fern Carolina Dog & Australian Kelpie Mix Twin Falls, ID

Sisters Charlotte & Fern were found during the freeze after Fern had babies under a house where they had been taking shelter basically since they were puppies. All of Fern’s babies except for one froze to death.

Fast forward a few months and Charlotte was now heavily pregnant in March.

We were able to get Charlotte to come to us eventually since we had been feeding them for a couple months. We weren’t able to get Fern and she had to be trapped and was reunited at my house with Fern a few days later.

Charlotte gave birth to 9 perfectly healthy babies and was an incredible mama. Charlotte is an old soul. She is so sweet and gentle but then has bursts of energy and will run around with the zoomies. She likes chewing on hard toys and cuddling up on the couch. She and Fern are often laying on the floor next to me while I am working in my office.

Fern took a lot longer to warm up. At first, you couldn’t even touch her. Now she gives me kisses and loves to be loved on. She is still weary of strangers and will definitely need a patient, gentle home. But she is very sweet, eager to please, and a happy, energetic girl. She got to be a second mama to Charlotte’s babies and I can tell how much she loved the babies too ?

Both girls also LOVE being outside running around and basking in the sun. A large yard for them is essential (since they may not ever be the kind of dogs who will feel comfortable on leashed walks)

They are best friends. In a perfect world, they are adopted together because they are extremely bonded. They are all each other had for the first few years of their lives.
