Charlotte's Story

Sweet Charlotte is a 10-12 year old shih-tzu / poodle mix from Alabama in search of her forever family!

She was rescued alongside her brother Wilbur from a neglectful situation. She may have a little partial hearing and vision loss but has no problem getting around at all! She has been doing well on her new eye drops and is a very good girl when you put them in (always expecting a treat after for good behavior though). She's seamlessly become a city girl since arriving.

She loves leisurely walks - she is long and low to the ground so she isn't the fastest walker and prefers to avoid stairs (or get a lift!). She is a perfect bag dog and relaxes in her comfy tote with her head poking out to watch the surroundings. Despite her slower pace, she loves going on long walks and exploring every neighborhood!

She has done so well with 3-4 walks a day and clearly prefers to potty outside. With regular walks, she has been perfect with her housetraining.

Charlotte is a friendly girl and loves to say hi to new people on the street. She is very dog and cat friendly and would love a buddy at home. She is laid back and loves a comfy place to sleep. She has also been great with children.

She has a great appetite and loves soft food and treats. She is eager to please and always greets her foster family at the door when she comes home. She can have a little fomo when separated from her people at home but settles after 15 mins and finds a perfect napping spot to wait. With her family at home, she's very quiet and hardly ever barks, making her such a well-behaved apartment dog.

Charlotte is up to date on vaccines, preventatives and is spayed, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Charlotte received an abdominal ultrasound at AMC on 8/19 to investigate elevated liver enzymes from her most recent blood work. She was found to have two masses on her liver which are likely benign according to the internal medicine specialist. Moving forward her forever family will need to monitor for any health changes and bring her in for regular senior bloodwork. Our adoptions team can speak with you more should you have questions about Charlotte's health needs moving forward.

To apply for Charlotte, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.

Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.

Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org
