Charlie is an 8.5 month old Lab/Beagle mix weighing around 35 lbs right now. He was surrendered to the local animal shelter, along with several other dogs including his brother Chase, after complaints were made to the ACO about the owners having too many dogs and not taking care of them properly.
Charlie is very sweet and loving and is learning that the world is not so bad. Charlie is a shy guy and he would love a home with another dog just to show him the ropes. He is crate trained and is doing well with housetraining via a doggie door. Charlie has also recently figured out that going on walks is fun and exciting - he does well on a leash as far as not pulling, but he could use a little work walking in a straight line vs. bouncing from side to side (his foster mom thinks it's kind of cute and is just appreciative of the joy he has on walks for now).
It may take Charlie a few days to realize his people are friendly and don't need to be avoided, but once he gets over that he's happy to get hugs and kisses (and treats) from anyone. Every day he gains confidence in meeting people he doesn't know so within no time he's going to be running up to them for attention.
Despite being a little shy, he is a puppy - so he can be goofy and playful and he does find things to get into if he is bored or just exploring his boundaries. Most of the time that just means a shoe out in the yard or on the couch (oddly, they haven't been chewed up, just dropped there). But when Charlie determines you're "OK" and comes up to you to be pet, there's not a better feeling.
He is great with all dogs he has met, gentle with his foster kid, and doesn't seem to care about the cats he's seen on walks (he does not live with any). Charlie is UTD on vaccines, HW-, on preventatives and neutered. To make him a member of your family, please apply online at https://yappytails.org/adoption-process/.
