Charlie Mixed Breed Saskatoon, SK

This dog is being fostered with New Hope Dog Rescue (Saskatoon). If you are interested in adopting please fill out an Adoption Application. Meet and greets are by appointment only and done so after an adoption application has been submitted. A successful applications will be contacted by the foster home to discuss further. We are volunteer run so please be patient.

Meet Charlie, she is just over 3 years old and weighs 26 kg. Charlie is a sweet girl. It takes her a bit to trust but once she does, she will be forever loyal.

She really likes head scratches on her big melon. She is hesitant with men, we have been working on that since she came into our care. She is very smart and good with commands, sit, stay, shake, off, down, leave it, come, her name. She loves toys, anything with a squeaker and she really likes to play tug but sometimes she gets over stimulated, so we need to stop playing.

She is very excited when we get home, so we do need to ignore her for a bit so she settles down. She will jump, bark, and show her teeth when she gets very excited. We find that if you can get her to lay down and roll over, she forgets that she was being vocal. If that doesn’t work, we tell her no and walk away and ignore her until she settles down.

She really wants to play and loves to be with you so she settles quickly. If you have small children, Charlie doesn’t know how strong she is and may bump into them. Charlie needs a lot of exercise, please ensure you can meet her exercise needs. During the week, we take her on 3 walks daily and she walks well on a leash. A home with older children may be best.

On weekends Charlie comes out to the lake where she loves freedom. We take her on hikes, and she loves to run! She is also getting used to bikes. She loves the water but needs to trust that there is a bottom. She really likes being on our boat!

She has been living in a home with other small dogs and has done great with them. She sometimes forgets that they are little but has no problem sharing. Charlie is not a chewer and is trained. She sleeps on the floor beside our bed and doesn’t go on the furniture unless we allow it.

Charlie has been spayed, microchipped, dewormed, current on age appropriate vaccines and has received a health check from a vet. adoption fee is $295.
