Chance's Story

Chance’s story didn’t start out great, but he’s determined to make sure it has the happiest ending possible. This one-year-old husky mix was found left behind in a pile of broken furniture and trash after his owners moved away. But don’t worry—Chance has already traded heartbreak for a whole lot of hope (and belly rubs).

Now safe in a loving foster home, he’s proving what a smart, fun-loving pup he really is. He’s crate trained, working hard on his house manners, and picking things up fast. He does get a little anxious when first left alone—understandable, considering his past—but he’s learning that being left doesn’t mean being forgotten.

Chance is your classic husky mix: expressive, chatty, goofy, and full of personality. He loves other dogs and makes instant friends everywhere he goes, making him an ideal candidate for doggy daycare or a home with another playful pup. Water play? Oh, he’s all in—literally. Splash zone warning issued.

He’d thrive in an active home or one with a fenced yard where he can run, explore, and burn off that happy energy. He’s done okay with cats, too, and while he had a bit of resource guarding early on, his foster has worked wonders helping him through it. Because of that, we think he’d do best in an adult-only home where boundaries and structure can continue to be reinforced.

Chance is about 50 pounds, fully vetted, healthy, and ready for his forever home. He’s currently in Mississippi and will travel north once his adoption is finalized. Virtual meet-and-greets are available via Zoom or Facebook Messenger for approved adopters.

We don’t charge transport fees, and adoption fees are currently waived for the perfect home. Please note that due to long-distance adoptions, we require veterinary references showing excellent care of current or past pets.

Apply at erinregananimalsanctuary.com to be considered.
(Petfinder contact forms are not adoption applications and will not receive a reply.)

If you have questions about Chance or our adoption process, please email us directly or use the contact form on our website.
